Product Quality
The SANCO₂ product is the North American version of the Eco Cute Water Heater that was first introduced into the Japanese market in the summer of 2001.
Since then, over 7M Eco Cute units have been sold in Japan, with an annual sales volume of approximately 500,000 units. Eco Cute units outsell Electric Resistance Water Heaters by a margin of about 5 to 1.
The SANCO₂ unit's major difference from the Japanese Eco Cute unit is in the storage tank design. The Japanese tank component is rectangular in shape and contains multiple storage tanks, storing water separately for use in the bath, and for other uses around the home.
The Heat Pump component, where the hot water is actually produced, is essentially identical. They both use naturally occurring CO2 as a refrigerant, with an inverter compressor and a variable speed Pump and Fan Motor.
The SANCO₂ unit is made in Japan at our ISO9001-certified factory using the same assembly line as the Eco Cute units destined for the Japanese market.
The first Eco Cute units for the Japanese market rolled off the production line in 2002 and the predecessor to ECO₂ Systems was the first company to secure ETL certification to sell the units in North America in the summer of 2016.

SANCO2 Residential Warranty
■ Heat Pump: 10 Years all parts. 10-Year unit replacement warranty if any refrigerant-carrying component fails
■ Stainless Steel Tanks: 15 Years, limited lifetime
■ Glass Lined Tanks:10 Years
■ Complete System: 3 Years labor
The details for a residential warranty are:
Heat Pump:
Eco2 Systems LLC warrants all parts & labor on the SANCO₂ Residential system for a period of 3 years from date of installation and a further 7 years on Parts only excluding shipping costs. Labor costs are paid per the payment cost schedule published by Eco2 Systems LLC and revised from time to time at Eco2 Systems LLC’s requirement (Exhibit A).
Should at any time during the 10-year Parts warranty any component directly part of the CO₂ refrigerant circuit fail, where replacement of that component would require opening of the refrigerant circuit, Eco2 Systems LLC will replace the Heat Pump unit in its entirety. If this failure occurs in the first 3 years of operation, then labor costs will be paid per Exhibit A.
Stainless Tank (43 and 83 Gallon):
Eco2 Systems LLC warrants that the ECO-43SSAQB, SAN-43SSAQA, ECO-83SSAQB & SAN-83SSAQA tanks will be free from defects for 10 years at 100% replacement, and for a further 5 years under a pro-rated scale, culminating in warranty ending after Fifteen years from date of installation.
■ Failure in Year 11: 80% of replacement value
■ Failure in Year 12: 60% of replacement value
■ Failure in Year 13: 40% of replacement value
■ Failure in Year 14: 20% of replacement value
Glass Lined (119 Gallon) Tanks:
ECO-119GLBB & SAN-119GLBK tanks have a warranty of 10 years only at 100% replacement value.
